Jobber and Housecall Pro are the two names most home service owners shortlist. They overlap heavily, so the decision usually comes down to price at your team size, contract terms and payment fees.
Short answer: Solo and price-sensitive: Jobber. Teams that want 5 to 8 users in one flat price with no contract and lower advertised card rates: Housecall Pro. Trial both on a real week of jobs.
| Tool | Entry plan | Free trial | QuickBooks |
|---|---|---|---|
| Jobber | Core: $29/mo billed annually; $49/mo with no commitment | 14 days on the Grow plan, no credit card | QuickBooks Online sync from Connect up (Xero sync listed too) |
| Housecall Pro | Basic: $59/mo (billed annually) | 14 days on MAX, no credit card | QuickBooks Online sync starts at Essentials |
Price at your team size
Solo: Jobber Core is $29/mo billed annually; Housecall Pro Basic is $59/mo billed annually. Jobber is cheaper to start, but Core lacks automated reminders, which begin at Connect ($99/mo annual).
Around 5 users: Housecall Pro Essentials is $149/mo with 5 users included. Jobber's 5-user Connect tier is $149/mo billed annually ($199/mo no commitment). That's roughly a wash; compare the features you'd actually use.
Around 8 users: Housecall Pro MAX is $299/mo with 8 users, then $35/mo each. Jobber adds users at $29/mo each on top of a plan's included users.
Contracts and trials
Housecall Pro says it doesn't require long-term contracts. Jobber offers no-commitment monthly billing, a cheaper monthly rate with a 1-year commitment (you keep paying until the year ends if you cancel), or annual prepaid. Read which one you're picking at checkout.
Both offer a 14-day trial with no credit card: Jobber on Grow, Housecall Pro on MAX. Trials show the top plan, so check which features you'd lose on the plan you'd actually buy.
Payment fees
Jobber lists 2.9% + 30¢ for online cards, 2.7% + 30¢ for Tap to Pay and 1% for ACH. Housecall Pro lists card rates from 2.59% and 1% for bank payments. On $20,000 a month of card payments, a 0.3-point difference is about $60 a month, which can outweigh the subscription difference.
